The most inspiring and the much awaited magnum opus of the year MISSION MANGAL finally hit the screens on 15th August, 2019.
This film served as great informative besides entertainment with its talented cast. All the lead cast were shown in their respective roles.
SYNOPSIS: This movie is based on the true story of how the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) in 2013. India was the 1st country to crack a Mars mission at one go with the less budget.
PLOT: The movie kicks up with the failure of the launch of ISRO mission, GSLV-II Fat Boy headed by the dedicated scientist Rakesh Dhawan (Akshay Kumar). He accepts his failure and was demoted to the Mars department. Tara Shinde (Vidya Balan) joins him there and proposes her idea of launching satellite to Mars using Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). She uses home science techniques to decrease the weight of the fuel from 1500kgs to 850kgs considering the maximum capacity of PSLV i.e 1350kgs.
A team of Junior scientists with no experience were assigned under Rakesh (Senior Scientist) and Tara (Project Director). How the team overcomes the obstacles faced during their scientific journey is absolutely eye-catching.
The introduction of junior scientists is simply superb. Every character has its significance. The new driving licence applicant Kritika Aggarwal (Taapsee Pannu) as Navigation and Communication Engineer, Eka Gandhi (Sonakshi Sinha), who wants to join NASA as Propulsion Control Engineer, Varsha Pillai (Nithya Menen) as Light weight Satellite designer, Parameshwar Naidu (Sharman Joshi) who believes in Horoscope as Payload Designer, Neha Siddiqui (Kirti Kulhari) as Program Automation Engineer, Ananth Iyer (H.G. Dattatreya) as Structural Designer nailed their respective roles.
BEST SCENES:
1. Rakesh and Tara motivating their team to consider MOM as their dream but not a 9 to 5 job.
2. The hilarious driving scenes of Kritika.
3. The fight between the women scientists and passengers in the metro when the passengers make fun of ISRO not being able to launch the satellite due to storm.
4. Above all, launch of Mangalyaan satellite in PSLV rocket till its insertion in Mars Orbit.
The writer and director reminded us the notable work and quotes of former chairman of ISRO late Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
CONCLUSION: It's the rare movie that picturised on ISRO and space satellites launching projects, the power of women scientists. Every level starting from each character, performance, set design to launch of Mangalyaan makes the film worth repeated viewings.
This movie is undoubtedly an inspiring story that makes all Indians proud.
